Hi JaCustomer,
My name is Jane. I have been working professionally with animals especially dogs in both health and behavioral issues for over 18 years. I have over 14,000 satisfied customers. It will be my pleasure to work with you today.
In order to supply you with the best information, I do need to ask for some additional information. Once I receive your answer, it will likely take me about 30-45 minutes to type up your response. I hope you can be patient.
Was he biting his tail proper, the anal gland area or the area above the tail on the back?
Did one or both anal glands rupture? Is that the wound you refer to?
Does he have firm solid bowel movements?
How many weeks since the glands were expressed?
When was he last dewormed?
How old is he?
Is he neutered?
I many have more questions once I have your answers.

Hi,jane Im a 24+7 so if I get called away to see to bedridden wife I appualagise its getting late, sorry

I'm even more confused. I thought you were saying he was biting his tail due to the anal glands being done. Now it sounds like he had sores and swelling on the actual tail itself and that the vet had him anesthesized for some reason and expressed the anal glands while he was under.

Why was your dog anesthesized?
Are his bowel movements frequently loose?
Has he had any testing done such as a thyroid or tli test?

Christopher, Not a problem on getting called away. My partner is disabled and I have very young pups, so I understand what you mean. Just checking back to see if you got my last post asking for additional information.
