My kindle will not charge up. I have tried several cables and still nothing. I have it connected to my computer now and still it wont turn on. I hold down the start button and the green light comes on and then it cuts out. Is my machine dead!

I have tried charging in the wall socket and am now trying on the computer and so far nothing. I have held down the button the green light comes on and then cuts out. Have had my kindle for 2 yrs I think. This is the second one the first one I gave to my husband which is older and is still working.

While charging in the wall socket, can you press and hold hard the power on/off button for about 45 seconds, then turn it on and check? Please let me know. Thank you.

I have tried what you asked and the green light doesnt stay on longer than 5 seconds before it flickers and stops. It just does not open the Kindle.

I'm sorry, you are lucky as this is a hardware issue; usually it lasts more than two years (unless the kindle is dropped or exposed to sunlight or got wet, etc.) So you need a new kindle, which all your previous books can be downloaded to your new kindle.
