Customer Question

Hi there. I have an old JVC digital video camers a GR-D31EK and wish to download to my laptop computer, which is an acer laptop, I ordered the lead which fits the camera but there is no way to connect to my laptop, even though I asked for a lead to do just that. Do I need to get another connecter, as this lead has the same connector both ends. the part I have just purchased is CAB021-2-JVC23. and is suitable for my camers. What else do I need to connect to laptop, there only appears to be usb ports and a telephone socket. Thanks for your I have given you my email address, which is mine, I have never used you before, so therefore no one else can have registered with you,  I have spend £22 and cant give you my email address.  HELP this seems very wrong

Hi there my name is XXXXX XXXXX I would be happy to assist you today!

I have looked into this for you and have found a suitable cable that will bridge the connection between your digital camera and your laptop computer. The cable has IEEE1934 connector which is designed to fit your camera and a USB 2.0 connector which will fit into the USB port on your laptop.

The link I have put above is an ebay link, and if this is not suitable for you I can find you an alternative.

Let me know if this has helped and if you need anymore assistance please dont hesitate to ask :)

If you are happy with my answer please would you be able to rate this answer between 3 and 5 so that I can recieve credit for helping you today.

All the best,

Thank you so much, I have found an IEEE1934 andf have ordered it from ebay, at £1.71 ish. If this fits the camea as you seem to think it will, I am most grateful to you, however, I should reserve judgement till I receive it. But as yu were so helpful and cheerful I will rate you highly. HOWEVER ..... if it does not work I will be back!!!!! Thanks again, Hilary

Hi Hilary,

The cable should be fine as long as the other end of the cable is USB. USB is required for the cable to connect to your laptop. Could you provide me a link to the cable you have ordered and i'll confirm if the cable will be fine :)? I noticed my ebay link didn't come up as a blue link that you could click on, did you manage to see the cable that I had selected for you, as this one was £5.99? The link again was

Is it virtually the same cable :)? If so you should be fine!

If you would like to wait until the cable arrives to test before you leave me feedback, that is fine. If you require anymore assistance at this point I would be more than happy to reply and help you futher if needs be.

Thanks Hilary, and hope everything goes to plan!

Hi James, I managed to order the cable you suggested, it goes into the camera correctly and has a usb connection, BUT..... when I look on the pc it says that the device I have attached has malfunctioned and therefore cannot be found. Yet again HELP please

Hi Hilary,

I'm sorry to hear that we are still having problems. Could you answer the following questions for me please.

Is the camera switched on when plugged into your computer?

Did anything happen with the camera when it was connected, any noticeable lights or information on the display?

Is the device shown when you go to My Computer, you can test to see if your computer is detecting the camera by leaving the My Computer window open and connecting and unplugging the camera, leaving a minute or 2 inbetween to see if anything new appears.

Is it the computer that returns the error message and can you tell me everything it says on the message word for word. Did anything alter on the camera whilst this error is on your pc screen?

Does the camera still operate normally, ie take photos and save them, and is fully charged when you connect to PC?

Thanks for your answers to any of these questions, I will try and do a bit more research.

No nothing on the camera at all, and the computer just made a noise each time I connected and disconnected the camera. The computer seemed to know something was plugged in, but just said that the device malfunctioned when plugged in to computer.

Nothing comes up under My computer I looked. I do not have camera here just now and am on way to work, will check the words and send to you later today, and the camera is still working as usual no problems. Perhaps it is too old.!!
