Hello, I'm TV Tech1 and I'll be working with you to identify and help you resolve your problem.

Your problem might be related to the possibility that when you try to tune, your TV set is set to one of the video inputs like HDMI , component, or composite/scart video inputs.

That deactivates the tuner settings in the menu because you are not set to the TV INPUT. Press your source button on your TV remote, set it to TV INPUT, then try accessing the menu's channel settings to tune in your TV stations using the auto scan setting. That will get your TV to memorize all the channels available to you

LE22 makes me think you have a SAMSUNG TV set, so I'm giving you directions for that brand.
If it's not a Samsung, let me know the brand, and I'll try to find the basic directions needed to get that to work.

The do have to have your TV INPUT active for the TV Tuner settings to become available to you.

It is set to TV

It is a Samsung LE228541c

Hmm, your TV software may have a software glitch in it. Let's reset the TV with the Plug and Play function on it. It's in your menu too, and if you are not on the TV input, the Plug and Play function will be grayed out, and inaccessible.

Im really not explaining myself too well

the Menu button doesnt function, it brings up the message 'not available'

The WHOLE menu shows up as NOT AVAILABLE?

And that is with the Samsung remote control?

I don't know if your original remote is white or black, but this is a picture of the remote for your TV model.

If that's the one you're using, and you get "not available" appearing on the TV screen, the TV and remote are communicating, but the only thing that would cause it to not work would be the TV's software/firmware.

Unplug the TV's power cord from the wall for 20 minutes to reload the firmware. Tell me if that remote still blocks you from accessing the menu.

this is the correct remote

it was unplugged for some weeks

Ok, you've tried to reset the software/firmware and did a hard reset to the TV's main board but none were successful.

You need to replace the main board to restore normal operation, so you'll have to remove the TV's rear cover screws, lift the cover off, and look at the main board's stickers and verify the BN number on it.

You can also check your main model number which has EXTRA letters at the end that verifies the model and part number of the main board matches.

Here is a website that sells the main board --

Copy and paste that into your web browser. You'll see a picture of the part, along with the full extended model number and the BN number they print on a sticker found on the main board.

I always prefer to look at the main board to verify the actual board installed on the TV set. That number is XXXXX most correct and concise number to order parts with.

Here is some more detail about the part number on the main board.
