Hello, my name is Shahid, I'll be happy to assist you.
Please allow me to ask you a few questions to diagnose the problem.

- What video source (DVD, Satellite Receiver etc) is connected to this TV or only air antenna is plugged for local TV channels?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Sky HD box

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
Thanks for the info.

Does Sky HD Box remote control has a button that says Aspect or Wide or Zoom or Size or Format?
OR can you please get me the model number written on Sky HD Box?
Also, have you tried a DVD player to this TV to see its picture appears normal or over size?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No buttons labeled as listed.

DRX 595-C

Skart connection only, and just to TV

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
OK, does TV remote has a buttons says Aspect?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Been through all available options there and all give a 'fat picture' - can't get the left and right edges of the picture.

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
Thanks for the info.

Have you tried to update TV firmware (internal software) to correct this problem?

If not, please check following Panasonic link, select your TV model in list to download firmware update file and proceed as per instructions on that page.

Please reply back how it worked.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Checked the software version which is a later version than listed on the Panasonic website.

Issue remains.

Problem not solved.

OK, have you tried to unplug TV and Sky HD Box power cords form wall socket for 10 minutes to reset, replug back in and check?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes - made no difference.

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
OK, is it possible to get a DVD player for test purpose and connect it to TV to check its playback picture size?

This way we can verify the problem is in TV or Sky HD Box.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No, sorry - don't use a DVD

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
Need another video source (like DVD player or any other video device) just to narrow down the problem as in my opinion TV would be fine and wide picture signal is coming from Sky HD box.

So can you please check with a friend or neighbor for DVD player for few minutes picture test on this TV?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Discovered the TV picture test option and ran that.

Picture looked OK but as there was no writing and the picture was of flowers it was hardly conclusive.

You must be joking about neighbours - as old and more decrepit than I am, and certainly don't do DVD.

There must be adjustment somewhere either on the TV or the Sky box - just a case of finding it.

At this stage I feel we are getting further away from a solution.

Expert:  Shahid replied 3 years ago.
Well, there is only option on TV is Aspect button on remote that offers different picture aspect ratio and you have already tried it that didn't work.
Sky HD box has picture format option that needs to go into setting menu of HD box to change its output format from 1080i to 720p and I was trying to be sure that TV itself is fine with another video source but we don't have one at the moment.

If you need another expert assistance, please tell me so I'll opt out to open up the question for other online pros input and do not rate my answer and leave it as it is.
Thank you.
