I have a Panasonic 42 inch plasma the remote suddenly stopped

This answer was rated:

I have a Panasonic 42 inch plasma the remote suddenly stopped working
I can however still switch the TV on with my Panasonic blu Ray control
I've bought a new remote but this doesn't work either even with new batteries
I suspect it's some confusion with the remotes but I don't know how to make the devices work only with their own remotes
Please help
Hello, my name is***** be happy to assist you.
Please allow me to ask you a few questions to diagnose the problem.
- Is the Bluray player also Panasonic brand that its remote works on TV?
- If you unplug Bluray power cord or HDMI cable from TV, does its remote still works on TV?
- Can you please get me the model number written on back of your TV?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
The TV is a TX P42X 20B
Yes the Blu Ray is also Panasonic
Yes the Blu Ray remote can still turn on/off the TV even when Blu Ray unplugged
OK, and the new remote is also identical to the old TV remote?
We can check the remote IR output signals through cellphone camera as shown in below link image..
Do you getflashing light on remote front when press buttons on remote control while watching it through cellphone camera?
These info will help to troubleshoot the problem.

Yes both my remotes are sending an infra red signal
This is odd as why TV doesn't work on both remotes.
- Have you tried to unplug TV power cord from wall outlet for 10 minutes to reset, replug back in and check?
If not yet, can you try it now and reply back with the result?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
OK trying a power off makes no difference
Did you try 'unplug TV power cord' or simply turn Off the TV by pushing the power button on it?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
TV was unplugged from the power for 15 mins
This is very confusing situation and we need to test both remotes on another Panasonic TV to see if they work or not.
If do not work then both remotes are bad.
And if they work then the remote sensor board or main board of TV is causing the problem and I would replace remote sensor board as first attempt to resolve the problem.
I trust my input will help you out. Please feel free to respond if you have any additional questions.
