My name is***** will assist you.
I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue.
The blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can determine which circuit is at fault. This will help us make the repair/fault diagnosis. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinks of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF for at least two times. Count it carefully and let me know.

Many thanks for the reply. The red light flashes six times slowly when turned on

okay, thank you. This sounds like the main power supply board is failing. It is not a very expensive part. I would recommend getting it replaced. Do you have a repair shop in your area?

Thank you I have no idea. I live in the Isle of Man, a little tax haven island lying storm battered in the middle of the Irish sea. Do you have a ww directory of repair shops to help me find one on my island?

Hi Randy, I took the TV to Colebourns as per your advice and they are telling me that:-

a) they replaced the main supply board but no change, same mo, six flashes, then nothing :(

b) they said it is now either the screen or the scanning board

c) if they replace the scanning board and it is the screen, then the new scanning board could be fried when they switch it on

d) they suggest replacing both but this but warned it will cost more than buying a new TV

A bit unhappy right now. Can you comment before I scrap it?

Many thanks

I am very sorry about that, the main power supply board usually is the fix for those symptoms. They are right about the cost to fix the screen. It would be best to buy a new tv if that is the case. Unfortunately, I recommend a new tv. If it were mine I would do the same, try the power board and then if it were gonna cost more without the guarantee of working properly then I would cut my losses. So sorry for this, I wish it was better news.
