. I have a 4 year old Fujipix HS10. Great camera, but right

This answer was rated:

Hi. I have a 4 year old Fujipix HS10. Great camera, but right from the start I haven't been able to take the SD card out without the camera refusing to accept it again, saying it needs re-formatting. I used to back up the photos to computer by a USB cable and it worked fine until a few months ago when I got a new computer. This machine does not recognise the camera at all, firstly saying unknown device and then nothing at all. I set the camera to USB but it makes no difference. Obviously I want to back up my pics but don't want to risk taking the card out and then the camera not accepting it again. I feel that the fault is in the camera but am at a loss as to how to solve this. Any thoughts?

Hi, computer is a Dell Optiplex 3020, quad core running Windows 7.

Thanks Hil
Can you install Finepix Studio from my link below
Once installed, restart the computer and tell me if it then detects the camera please.
I can also do these steps for you, and have made a request via Additional Services. This is optional, and if you choose to do this, I can, with your permission, remote into your computer while you watch and do all these steps (and deal with any problems that arise during them) for you. Or if you do not choose to take this service, we can continue here. This is no problem at all. Just let me know please.
Let me know the results please

I've installed the Finepix Studio and restarted the computer. Attached the camera via USB but no reaction from computer.

ok, if you connect it to another computer is it detected?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ah, well I don't have another computer!

ok, then the only other option we have is to put the memory card directly into a card reader on the computer.
Do you have a card reader on this computer?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have a a USB card reader, which I've used before, but I don't want to take the card out of the camera as it won't take it back without re-formatting. I know I'll have the photos on the computer by then but I'm not keen on deleting them off the card.

ok, but if your camera is not detected then either the camera or the Card has a fault, and we need to start with a format of the card, but first getting them onto the computer
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

OK. I've suspected that it's the camera at fault as I've had a couple of cards and it's always the same response. I'll leave it there for now. Thank you for your time. And I didn't know about the software Finepix Studio!

Your welcome, if you did a few cards, also try a different Cable as this is also commonly at fault.
But, with the format issue, it does point to the camera.
If you would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
