How do I burn an existing playlist in my iTunes on to a CD

This answer was rated:

How do I burn an existing playlist in my iTunes on to
a CD – using my Samsung Ultra thin SE-208 DVD Writer?
I am using a Mac OSX 10.9.5
Thank you for your question, my name is ***** ***** I look forward to assisting you.
Please note, a rating is only needed when we are finished.
Can you tell me please exactly what happens when you fail?
Thank you

I remove the 'burned CD' and attempted to play it on two different CD players.
Although there were twenty tracks on the iTunes playlist the CD player indicates
1 48.01 and there has been no sound from three attempts using fresh CDs
Can you tell me the exact specification of the CDs you have been using please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Sony CD-R 700MB
Can you put it in the computer, one of the CD's and tell me what then happens please

I get the usual note that I've inserted a blank CD action – open finder - click ignore or OK (which I've been selecting
ook, and in Finder, what does it show on the CD?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
recordable cd and burn
but what does it actually show you ON the CD? This is what I need to know please.
I can see you are a first time user to the site. What we do here is either a question and answer type of conversation or remote support where I would actually connect to the computer and have a look and attempt to fix the problem for you.
Remote support can save a lot of time if you are not comfortable performing repairs yourself. Sometimes even with instructions you can make a mistake and make things worse.
I will send an offer through for remote support and should you accept I will connect and see what is going on and fix the issue. Otherwise we can continue to talk like this but I will need to ask a number of other questions and try and walk you through some steps.
Both options are 100% guaranteed by the way. Remote is just quicker and avoids the risk of you making a mistake and doing something wrong.
If you want remote click get extra help. If not simply reply to me.

untitled 6KB - no items
ok, burn a file to the disk within finder. Any file, just to see if its actually working.
Let me know the results please

it's working even on a photo file. I only get, 1 track recording a window saying that
the disc can't be verified. Should I try another with music on it?
yes please and let me know how this goes
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Nothing I'm afraid. It still registers that it's burning only one track although I selected two.
There is no sound when I insert the CD into the player!
ok, before you said "I only get, 1 track recording a window saying that
the disc can't be verified. Should I try another with music on it?"
What exactly did you mean with this statement?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I put a fresh CD into the DVD writer, placed two tracks from a random playlist
and clicked burn. The process appeared to work fine (with a music file) no mention
of verification problems, BUT still no sound when the disc is played...
Thank you for that
To confirm, in iTunes you Select the playlist and choose File > Burn Playlist to Disc correct?
Note that If Burn Playlist to Disc doesn’t appear in the menu, the playlist you selected can’t be burned to a CD because it contains items with usage restrictions (for example, a song your computer isn’t authorized to play).
can you confirm this is how your doing it please?

THANKS Richard – you've highlighted a problem that hadn't even occurred to me.
I would not have purchased the DVD writer If I had known. Most of my music is pre-1970s
and older. I wanted to burn a selection for friends but it looks like NO GO!!!
ok, that explains it then!!
