We have a Kenwood /Garmin DNX5280BT and its fitted into our Jeep Compass and its just stopped working its 4 years old. It would start to come on then would flit from on to off on its own never really making it to the 1st stage of operation.
Is this a fault which can be fixed if so where? Please advise. Bruce in Doncaster

Did the local car electric remove power to the unit to let the residue power drain, then connect the power to it and try to start it?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I removed the removable facia myself and only talked to the tech over the phone
ok thanks.
Did you though disconnect the power to it?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
ok, I want you to disconnect the power to it, wait 10 minutes, connect the power to it, try to turn it on ans tell me if it now starts please.

Hi lost you for a while ...I can only disconnect the battery is that enough I will wait 10 mins as you suggest and will get back and let you know ...this is a rebooting plan
yes, that is enough.
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
We've done this and tested but there's no change
It is the internal memory that has faulted.
Residue power or a crashed firmware can cause this, but we have now ruled this out.
This unit is quite old, and as such the mainboard (that houses the memory) is expensive as is the labor to replace it. You would only receive a limited warranty on the repair. With this in mind, I advise against a repair, as it costs more in the long run then a replacement unit which you can get here
The one for £744.45 is about the same as the repair costs for a repair of this issue, but with this one you get a 1 year warranty as opposed to a 30 day one with the repair.
I am really sorry about this, and if you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
