My LG TV is at least 6 years old. It has just started taking

This answer was rated:

My LG TV is at least 6 years old. It has just started taking a long time to recognise the sky signal. At least that's my interpretation of the problem. When I turn the sky hd+ Box on, the standby light on the TV flashes and then goes out. It can then take anything up to a minute or even three minutes for the picture to appear. The TV works well when it has decided to come on. Is this repairable or an age related is the TV knackered? Thanks for your advice
Thank you for your question, my name is ***** ***** I look forward to assisting you.
Please note, a rating is only needed when we are finished.
Can you please remove the power to the TV (so unplug it from the power socket).
Then on the actual TV, hold the power button for 60 seconds then release.
Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power again to the TV, turn it on and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.
Let me know the results please

By mistake I turned the sky box off as well as the TV. I will be back to you very shortly.
No problem and thanks

Well it certainly connected to sky quickly that time but I am worried that it is an intermittent fault. My sky controller has not talked to the TV since we moved house two years ago and I have to use the LG TV handset. I presume that doesn't have a bearing on the problem? The battery in both handsets appear ok an both control their own machines. Incidentally Is there any easy way to find the code for a TV so I could try to correct this minor irritation as well?
No, that has no bearing on the problem, it is usually the firmware that is at issue, and a hard restart as we did would clear it up. But if the problem occurs again, you can let me know here.
You can use this link to try to find the code
If you would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service by clicking one of the stars at the top of the screen then submit, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

That's very helpful. I will certainly give you a good rating. Incidentally I have not used the service before as I only have technical problems very rarely. If I want to contact you again does it cost me another£22, which is rather excessive!? I am not really interested in subscribing annually as this, as I say is the first time I have ever had to resort to it!
If it is for this problem, then thee is no extra cost.
If its a new question then yes, you would need to pay, but its a lot cheaper then a technician.

Great but how do I re contact on this problem?
Just like your doing now, when you rate me the question does not close but stays open, so you just post a message here like your doing now.

Last night the TV took 45 minutes to wake up despite repeating the hard restart a second time. Any suggestions please?
It is then the power board that is faulting, it will stop turning on in the future, as the capacitor that's faulting get progressively worse.
You will need to take the TV in to get a offer on having this replaced. I advise to get a pricing first as with current prices of TV's the repair with the limited warranty you get can exceed the cost of a repair.
