Hi. I own a 40" Smart Tv Mod UE 40H 5500. After the TV has been on for a for some time, it switches itself off and then back on quite frequently and then it may work properly for a few hours. Ive tried another remote. Can you help me with this problem

Hello John, Welcome. My name is ***** ***** I'll assist you today. I'm sorry you're having trouble with it. I need additional info to troubleshoot the issue.

- How long the TV stay On and switches Off?

- Does it happen once when turn On the TV first time?
- Does the problem occur regardless of what video source being watched on TV?

Hi. After the TV has been switched on for about 1 to 2 hrs it switches itself off, as if I am using the remote control I switch it back on. this procedure then goes on until I give up and watch another TV. After a few hours I switch it on and it may work all right for a whole day with no trouble. the problem occurs regardless of video source.

Thanks for the info.

How old is the TV and how long it have had the problem?
This info will conclude the troubleshooting.

The TV is just over 3yrs old. the problem started on and off about a month ago

Thanks John for the info.

It seems TV main board is failing for some reason, it could be heat/ temp issue that increased inside main controller chip that resets it or a firmware issue as there is no other reason for this kind of intermittent problem and you would need to replace main board of TV to resolve the problem. If you wish to do-it-yourself then need to remove back cover of TV after removing fixing screws around the back panel to access inside TV then get the part number off of label pasted on main board to search/ google it to get price info to order it. Main board replacement wouldn't be hard work for an average handy person. I trust my input will help you out. Please feel free to respond if you have any additional questions.

Thanks very much could it be the TV is to close to the wall that there isn't enough ventilation

Yes, it could be reason of increasing temp that turns Off the TV after some time. Take it off of wall and put it on table stand to see if it works fine/ longer.
