my Inspiron 3280 AIO has just arrived with a separate 16GB memory upgrade module. i would lkie to see an illustration of how to install the extra memory. Also should i do this before running the PC for the first time. Please can you help

Yes you should do it before turning it on first.

The procedure is to first remove the back cover, which you can follow here

Then to remove the memory module and put the new one in, follow the procedure here.
