Hi Pete. My name is graham

Please go ahead
Expert:  Pete replied 7 days ago.

Hi Graham,

Try setting the temperature to minimum, then power off or unplug the freezer for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, turn it back on again.

Let me know if it appears to work normally again after you do this.

Pete I have tried that now. Doesn’t seem any different yet
Expert:  Pete replied 7 days ago.

What is showing on the display panel?

If the reset doesn't work then the motor may have failed.

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
It is just the normal settings. Nothing different.
Expert:  Pete replied 7 days ago.

What difficulty are you having with it?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
The temperature of the freezer and fridge is too high. Food has thawed. Panel is lit and I can adjust settings with no success.
Expert:  Pete replied 7 days ago.

Did anything out of the ordinary occur recently that might have caused this?

e.g. a power cut, or the door being left open, or too much food being put in at once?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Thanks Pete. Just asked round. Not that we are aware of but there is a lot of food in there so possible that the door was left slightly open. The door has definitely being closed since yesterday afternoon with no change. I tried switching off and back on yesterday evening as well.
Expert:  Pete replied 7 days ago.

If the freezer was overfilled then air vents may have been blocked or the door may not have been able to close fully. This could have caused the freezer to defrost, and as a safety feature it will not re-freeze until it has been reset.

If the reset did not work then the compressor may have overheated and burned out trying to keep the freezer cool whilst the door was slightly open.

The compressor will need to be tested and replaced if faulty

Thanks Pete. That could well be the case. We have taken some of the food out now and the fridge compartment is fine now and the freezer may be working as it has made some ice and feels warm on the side. Should we try resetting again or leave it to catch up?
Expert:  Pete replied 7 days ago.

You should leave it for a few hours and monitor the temperature.

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Okay thanks. We will do that

You are welcome :)
Stay safe,
