I have a Canon TS3320 printer, and cannot get a replacement

Customer Question

I have a Canon TS3320 printer, and cannot get a replacement black ink cartridge. The printer came with a PH-243 cartridge, but that is unavailable. Canon advised getting a 545, which I did, but the printer reports E for error and will not print. Infuriating
JA: Is this the first time you've had to change the ink for your TS3320?
Customer: yes
JA: Are you getting any error messages? Are you able to open the lid that covers the cartridges on your printer?
Customer: i haven’t done that. Is it difficult?
JA: Anything else you want the Printer Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: don’t think so

Hi there and welcome to Just Answer, my name is ***** ***** I look forward to helping you.

I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble. I know that can be frustrating. Hopefully, we can get this resolved quickly.

The 545 is the ink cartridge you use for this printer

Can you please remove the power to the printer (so unplug it from the power socket)

Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power again to the device and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.

Let me know the results please

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
No. It still says E for error
Expert:  Richard replied 12 days ago.

The E should also have a number after it, what number is *****?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
What would you suggest I do now. It is very frustrating

The printer says R and then 1 then 4 then back to E

Thanks

Can you remove the ink from the printer then power it off.

then using a Q-Tip with cleaning alcohol (or warm water if you do not have any), clean out the areas where the ink goes in.

Then use a damp cloth and wipe down the inside of the printer.

Once done, let it dry for 10 minutes

Then put the ink back in, power it on and tell me if it then prints correctly please

This will also allow you to see if any foreign objects are in the printer which may cause this.

No luck. It all looks very clean and pristine inside the printer, but still same E 1 4 message

ok, then it is a faulty cartridge, you will need to return it to be replaced please.

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
Well, actually I purchased 2 of the 545 cartridges and I’ve just tried the other one and same E14 message

And these are black cartridges?

Expert:  Richard replied 12 days ago.

Ok, they are the correct cartridges, what was the reason for changing the existing ones? Also an error?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
The original cartridge ink was all used up. I have been unable to source a 243 cartridge and a copy shop in town couldn’t either
Customer: replied 12 days ago.
The printer was purchased only a month or so ago
