I am receiving upwards of 12 unwanted, often obscene, emails

This answer was rated:

I am receiving upwards of 12 unwanted , often obscene, emails every day
on my imac desktop. Is it possible to block these emails by content or by part of the incoming address i.e. removing the senders details but retaining the site from which it was sent?. I am unable to locate a list of the sites in my system that I have previously blocked.

Dear Client,

thank you very much for your question. I am Lorenz Vauck and would like to help you with your SPAM-problem (that´s how those unwanted emails are called). What you´ll need is a good SPAM-filter. For me to recommend a good one to you, I need to know which mailing software you are using on your Mac right now ("Outlook", for example).

Thank you very much and I look forward to help you,

Lorenz Vauck

I am using Mozilla Firefox.

Thanks for the reply. So you are using a webmail interface, is this correct (e.g.: you go to a website, login and read your emails?). Which email provider are you using please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I am using Yahoo mail.

Great, thank you. And you are reading your emails only on their website, you don´t retrieve the emails to your Mac with an extra program?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No . But my mobile is synched to my desktop.

OK, thank you for the informations. The following is the case: Yahoo is already filtering out many SPAM-emails for you. However, they can´t filter all SPAM emails, it´s simply impossible. But, you can tell Yahoo if a message is SPAM or not. Apart from that this will move that email out of your inbox into your SPAM folder, Yahoo´s SPAM-filter will become more "intelligent" with each mail you report as SPAM to them. Please have a read here how exactly you do that in your Yahoo mail account:

Ultimately, you will never be able to filter all SPAM emails out, but by marking SPAM emails as SPAM in your Yahoo account, you will be able to at least reduce them a lot! Personally I am a PC expert since 17 years, have all kind of SPAM-filters installed and train them every day, yet still about 4 to 5 SPAM emails make it through to my "legal" inbox each and every day. It´s one of those things which we hate the internet for and which we never can prevent 100%. It´s what we have to "withstand" on the internet if we want to use all it´s benefits on the other side.

Please let me know if I can provide you with further informations by just replying to this message again. In case I answered your question to your satisfaction, I would appreciate if you could rate me with 3 to 5 stars, because I am independent expert and only get paid by JustAnswer (they will send me a few % of your payment) if you give me a 3 to 5 stars rating.

Thank you very much and best (SPAM-free) regards,

Lorenz Vauck

I want to add that in regards ***** ***** safety of your Mac, these emails in your Yahoo inbox can do it no harm. Likewise, sites you block on your Mac, will have no effect about the SPAM emails you receive in your Yahoo inbox.

Still, you should always make sure to use a anti-virus software on your Mac to make sure nothing will ever happen to it. A good one I can highly recommend is:

I am personally using it for years and never did a virus make it through to my computer.

Thank you very much again,

Lorenz Vauck
