Customer Question

Hi. My Sky email account works fine on my iPhone. On my iPad my outgoing messages are going to the OUTBOX and I can't send them from there. I thought of deleting the account through my iPad SETTINGS and then reinstall. if I delete the account in my iPad settings will this delete the account altogether or just from my iPad?
JA: Are emails stuck in your outbox or are you receiving an error message?
Customer: Yes i was getting an error message which I can't quite recall or now find which says in effect "outgoing server error".
JA: Are there any antivirus or firewall settings that could block you from sending mail?
Customer: I don't think so.
JA: Anything else you want the Email Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No thanks.

May I know what is your email provider?

I do not want to connect to a remote assistant but I would like a reply to my question.
Expert:  VanHilton M replied 2 months ago.

if you get an offer for premium service please hold off on that for now. That offer is automatically generated by this website, not by me. I can offer you whatever is needed to solve your problem.

Disregard the remote service for 39, that is just an automated offer it does not apply in this case.

Are you still there? I don't mean to rush you. I just want to make sure that we are still connected

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
It says. The connects to the outgoing server ‘smtp. blueyonder.co.uk” failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured for mail accounts in settings.
Expert:  VanHilton M replied 2 months ago.

I want you to try this troubleshooting.

  1. Go to the Mail menu and choose Preferences, then Accounts.
  2. Choose your Sky Yahoo Mail account and at the top of that account's panel the Account Information tab.
  3. Open the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) dropdown menu. Does the account's SMTP server have (Offline) next to its name in the dropdown menu? If yes, choose Edit SMTP Server List from the bottom of the dropdown menu.
  4. Choose the Advanced tab, enter your password ***** click OK.

Okay, I want you to follow this instruction.

iPhone or iPad

Depending on what operating system you’re using you’ll need to follow a different set of instructions.

To find out what operating system you’re using:

  1. Open the Settings menu on your device.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select About. You'll see your version number listed alongside Version.

If you need to update to the latest version select Software Update from the General menu and follow the instructions.

You’ll need to be connected to the internet to download your software update.

Set up your emails

If you’re using Mail on iOS 9.0 or later:

  1. Tap Settings then swipe up and tap Mail or Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
  2. Under ‘Accounts’ tap Add Account, select Yahoo and fill in your details:
Sign in/Email: Your full Sky email address
Password: Your Sky iD password (the password ***** use to access your Sky email account)

If you’re using Mail on iOS 8.x or below:

To help protect your email account, instead of your usual Sky iD password *****’ll need to generate a unique 16-digit app password ***** use on your iPhone or iPad Mail app.

Once you’ve got it, follow the instructions below to finish setting up emails on your device.

Generate an app password >

  1. Tap Settings then swipe up and tap Mail or Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Under ‘Accounts’ tap Add Account and fill in your details:
    Name: Your name
Email: Your full Sky email address
Password: Your unique 16-digit app password
Description: Your iPhone/iPad may automatically display “Sky” here; it’s optional to change this
  3. On the next screen make sure the Mail tab is highlighted or selected and then tap Save in the top right corner.

Your Sky Yahoo Mail account will now be set up on your device. You may need to wait a few minutes for any emails you already have to pull through to the app.

Updating your password

Please remember, if you change your Sky iD password, you don't need to update it in the Mail app if you set up your emails using an app password. Your emails will continue to work on your device using the app password *****

Check or change your account settings:

  1. On your device, go to Settings and choose Mail or Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
  2. Tap Accounts and then select your @sky.com email account.
  3. Tap on the name of your email address and check your settings: For Incoming mail server:
    Host Name: imap.tools.sky.com
Username: Your full Sky Email address, including '@sky.com'
Password: Your unique 16-digit app password
Select Advanced at the bottom of the page.
    Use SSL should be on/highlighted
Server Port: 993 For Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
Tap SMTP and in 'Primary Server' select On.
    Host Name: smtp.tools.sky.com
Username: Your full Sky Email address, including '@sky.com'
Password: Your unique 16-digit app password
    **Use SSL should be on/highlighted
    Server Port: 465**
