Customer Question

I have been made redundant after 29 years at my company. In my redundancy letter my employer has said that 'in addition to your garden leave, you will receive a tax-free redundancy payment of £70,000. This is an enhanced redundancy payment is in line with company policy.
They are now saying that this is not the case, that it is tax free up to £30K (the usual amount) and then the rest is taxable. If I this in writing, they have to honour this I believe.
Can you help? Many thanks!
