Grandaughter age 13 6weeks ago had a very bad throat and chest which has cleared up but left her very weak no interest in anything complains of headache and dizziness unable to cope with school eating a little but cannot concentrate on anything.doctors say it is viral and it will just take its time, grandaughters profile always lots of energy loves excersise netball gym scouts skiing trampolining tennis top of her class in most subjects now is a shell of her former self.Just started periods in last 6 months.excema asthma returned after not having it for 6years.very concerned grandma

just told by doctor to rest

OK Keith--and we can continue after this if you'd like. First off, she could have pneumonia which was never looked for or treated with antibiotics until now and she needs a chest x-ray. Secondly--unless the TSH on her thyroid panel was 2.0 or less she could be considered hypothryorid and need supplement medication for that. Thirdly--I would check her AM and PM cortisol levels since if they are low that could be the problem.
