I'm hoping an endocrinologist can help me. My hair doctor

Customer Question

I'm hoping an endocrinologist can help me.My hair doctor has prescribed me 0.5mg finasteride daily for my hair loss. I've got the finasteride but I wanted to know how the drug will effect me and how to minimise side effects.I've attached a recent blood test. Any advice on how to minimise the hormonal effects would be appreciated. I've attached a blood test to aid you. The test was a year ago but I had a test recently and the results were practically the same.

Can you help with my query?
Expert:  Anthony Osula replied 6 months ago.

okay you're taking finasteride 0.5mg, this is unlikely to cause you any side effects as you're taking a very low dose. The standard dose for hair loss is 1mg and even with this those very few have side effects.

If you do get side effects, it woudl be common ones like loss of interest in sex, premature ejaculation, impotence, dizziness.

To minimise the side effets would mean either stopping the drug or taking another medication to counteract them depending on the side effect i.e viagra for impotence
