i have developed a dark shadow. a bit like black squigly lines to the outside of my peripheral vision which started off earlier as flashes. on looking at my eye in the mirror i have noticed a dark rim to my iris. im pretty sure there is a problem but dont know what i am dealing with.

This can be retinal detachment.

It is nor normal, and although it could simply be floaters, you need to have a retinal exam immediately.
