Customer Question

please can you advise me sir, can short sightness be cured or do you have it for life? please could you also help me, can an optician diagnose short sightedness if you have cataracts at the same time?
JA: The Ophthalmologist can help. Just a couple quick questions before I transfer you. Have you experienced any changes or blurriness in your vision? Eye pain? Are your eyes dry or bloodshot?
Customer: not at present sir
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the Doctor should know?

Yes, this can be corrected - if you have concurrent cataracts then a removal of these and insertion of a suitably powered lens implant seems to be the obvious solution.

An optician should be able to diagnose short-sightedness still, unless the cataracts are particularly dense.
