Good afternoon, I am Dr Elliot. Thank you for your question. When did the nausea start? and what visual symptoms to you have?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have had it on and off for awhile - I went to see the optician and gave me new glasses but it doesn’t seem to help
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don’t have it all the time but I have it now
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It seems to be better in the evening
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

What is it you are experiencing though?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
For example when I scroll through emails it gets blurry It makes me feel sick
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It’s like there is something in the peripheries of my vision like looking through a binoculars
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Sometimes if I look left at something it is clearer than if I look straight ahead
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

Thank you. The closest thing I can think of that could initially cause this is an atypical occular migraine

Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

You do not have to have a typical migraine headache with it, and I would consider it more given your eye examination was normal. Have you tried taking anything for this?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No I haven’t
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I would take ibrouphen for a migraine
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What is an ocular migraine
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What would cause this
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I googled it and it said temporary loss of sight
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
When I scroll eg through Facebook it is not clear but is clear when i stop
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It is like there is some obscuring at the side of my eyes
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

I am very Sorry, I had lost your thread and it finally just appeared again. Are you still free to discuss this?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Kinda - in bed
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

Sorry. Message back tomorrow if you still would like advice, I can reply then.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I would
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No please don’t apologise - I just find it weird and now my eyes feel really tired
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

Okay, so I was thinking about this today. There are many things that could be causing this, but examination is key here.

You need to be referred to an Ophthalmologist, your GP should be able to do this and have a semi-urgent appt this week. I would also arrange a head MRI scan, this will take 2-4 weeks, but would be useful to check nothing else is going on.

Please don't worry that I think this is something serious, but I do think it is wise to exclude more significant causes...I would chase this come Monday with your GP

What is a ophthalmologist
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

sorry, an eye doctor

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have booked an appointment with an optician who can refer me to the doctor and they can refer for other scans I am just worried about timing with COVID
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

Thats perfect, you optician can indeed refer you directly and a much quicker route, I would therefore ask your GP about an MRI head

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is there any chance it could be eye fatigue feeling nauseous affecting the eyes
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

Possibly, but there are some neurological muscular issues that could cause this, but generally it would become more pronounced with yes. Difficult to say sorry

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is there a way to identify if I have eye strain or something more serious to help me sleep
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Since I started working from home I have started waking up with aches and pains
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My aunt had MS is there a way of eliminating this
Expert:  Tim Brown replied 1 year ago.

Good evening, Yes, an MRI head would likely exclude it
