When I take my Partner,s surname do I become a British citizen?

Thank you for your question, I will do my best to assist you.
Simply taking your partner's surname - or even marrying him - will not make you a British Citizen.
However since you have lived in the UK legally for five years you are entitled to apply for citizenship.
You can find more details here
and the form here
I hope that this is of assistance
