Thank you for your question.
My name is Clare
I will do my best to help you but I need some further information first.
Prior to December 2003 fathers only had Parental Responsibility for their child if they were married to the mother or there was a court order.
Since then the father has Parental Responsibility if they are named on the Birth Certificate whether they are married or not - or there is a court order.
Where both parties have parental responsibility they both have the right to have a say in all the major issues in the life of the child.
If they cannot agree then it is the court who must decide the issues.
The wishes of the child can be relevant - but generally only where they are over 12
I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details
