My wife has walked out on me and the children. We have a mortgage

This answer was rated:

My wife has walked out on me and the children. We have a mortgage on the property.
Can she force me sell the house making my two daughters and myself homeless?
There is 10 years left to pay on the morgtgage, and my youngest daughter is 13 years old.
Thank you for your question.
My name is Clare
I will do my best to help you but I need some further information first.
How much is the house worth and how much is outstanding on the mortgage?
What other assets are there and what other income do you each have?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

The house is worth about £140,000 and there is about £40,000 left on the mortgage to pay. There are no other assets. I only have my earnings plus tax credits and child benefit. Wife not working but is waiting to hear about a job.

Your wife will not be able to force a sale of the property until your youngest child is 18 - or you cohabit.
I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details
