My husband and I are legally separated but considering divorce. Does the marital home have to be sold immediately on divorce or can we each continue residing in it unti a more convenient time for sale

The matrimonial home does not have to be immediately sold. You can reach agreement about what happens with the home, who is to continue residing there and when it will be sold. However, you will also need to take into account the wider assets if either of you have any.
