A cousin died recently and did not leave a will.( her mother and my father were first cousins)she has 12 second cousin including myself.
As she did not leave a will a cousin told me this morning that the crown would inherit her estate;house chattels e.t.c.
is theer any way we can contest this situation?
Hi, thank you for your question. That is not necessarily correct. If a person dies intestate, their estate will be distributed in accordance with intestacy rules - her estate only goes to the Crown if there are no living relatives who are able to inherit from her. If you use this intestacy calculator you can identify who is able to inherit her estate: hope this assists you. If you found this information helpful please provide a positive rating. I will not be credited for answering your question without a positive rating. Thank you
