I have a child of 13 and a child of 10 mine and my husbands job overlap by 35 minutes once a week in the morning at 8 o'clock is it illegal for the children to be left on their own for the 35 minutes once a week hope you can help

Surprising though it may seem, there is no statutory age at which children can or cannot be left alone. It comes down to the individual circumstances and whether the children have been left in any danger.

A child can get hurt just as much when a parent is hanging washing out for 5 minutes as it can in a 35 minute absence.
