Customer Question

Hi.
I am 56 been married 2 years and my husband is abusive and a complete control freak.
I have moved out of our home to be safe....
I left a good life in Australia to make a life back in UK with him.
He financially secure.
How do I find out what I am entitled to in order to move on with my life.
I am not interested in his hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Hello

Welcome to Just Answer

I am a Solicitor and will assist you.

Please may I ask:

- how long were you together before you got married?

- any minor children?

- how long have you lived in the UK together?

- is divorce contemplated?

- what are the assets for both of you including pensions?

- any pre nuptial type of agreement?

kind regards

Caroline

1 year before marriage .
He has a 15 year old daughter from a previous marriage. She lives with her mother.
No pre nuptials.
Have known him all of my life.
We have a joint home worth £600k
He is worth about 1.2 million.
Then his pension which I don’t know what that’s worth.
I have pension fund of around £150k
We both invoice around 80k each per year to clients as we have our own business

Hello

Thank you for your response.

Please do accept my sincere apologies for not being able to respond sooner to you.

Your marriage has been quite a short one of only 2 years so it is quite important for me to know ow long you were living together before you got married as the courts can take this into consideration - how long was this?

kindest regards

Caroline
