I want to know more about parental orders following

This answer was rated:

Hi I want to know more about parental orders following surrogacy.
Assistant: What steps have been taken? Have any papers been filed in family court?
Customer: The intended parents have submitted forms for a parental order but I (the birth mother) have not signed them.
Assistant: Family Court normally sits in a local County and Magistrates' Court. Do you know the location of the court? If not, what county do you live in?
Customer: Cardiff
Assistant: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Is the some way we can ALL have parental responsibility?
Hello,
I've been working hard to find a Professional to assist you with your question, but sometimes finding the right Professional can take a little longer than expected.
I wonder whether you're ok with continuing to wait for an answer. If you are, please let me know and I will continue my search. If not, feel free to let me know and I will cancel this question for you.
Thank you!

please continue.

Hello, my name is ***** ***** I’ll do my best to assist you today.

Please bear in mind as this is an email service and not live chat I may not respond immediately.

I'm just reviewing your question.

OK. Either a parental order or an adoption order would transfer parental responsibility to them.

This would be the normal route where surrogacy is concerned.

Have you discussed this with them?

Hello.

I didn’t receive confirmation that you received my response to your question.

Was there anything that needed clarifying at all?

Kind regards,

Peter

The parental order has already been applied for. I am aware of the ‘usual’ route things take in surrogacy agreements. However what I wanted to know is, is there some way four people can have parental responsibility instead of just two? And what would happen is I refused to sign the parental order? I want access to the child in a regular basis. How would my rights to see my child be affected if I give them all my parental responsibility?

Can I ask why you seek 4 people having PR?

There are circumstances whereby an additional parent can obtain parental responsibility (such as a step parent, for example).

However, any decisions are made in the best interests of the child, always.

And PR would involve you in the decisions about schooling, health, etc.

Is this really necessary?

I go back to my earlier point - have you discussed this with the intended parents?

Are they aware that you are calling the baby your child, as opposed to the child you are carrying for them?
