Hi, I’m Lea and I will be assisting you with your query today.
I am very sorry to hear about your dilemma, but will do my best to provide you with advice and guidance on what to do next. Have you started your petition yet, or do you need to know how to start the divorce?
The following is useful info to assist you with the site:
Divorce is a reasonably straightforward process and you can do it all online these days. I will link you to where you can find the online process and the paper application below.
The divorce petition form is called a D8 form. You complete this (either online or on paper), and the cost is £550. If you are on a low income or benefits you may be entitled to fee remission and if so should complete form EX160. If you do the divorce application online, the EX160 form is included in the online system, otherwise you will need to complete the physical form.
Once the D8 is submitted (either online or via paper application) the court will issue the paperwork to your spouse and they will have time to respond before the divorce moves on to the decree nisi stage. There is more information about the divorce process at the link below.
