Ford Kuga 1997cc Automatic
I have a minor oil leak coming from the back of the engine at the seal on the crankcase where it joins the gearbox.
The car is 5 years old and an ex demonstrator. As far as I can determine, the seal shouldn't have failed after 5 years

What is your registration number of your kuga

Is it a pyshical drip or just more a sweat

Kindest regards ***** *****

I would say the oil leak is a minor drip. The guy who does my servicing had a look underneath and did some digging on this issue and everything points to the seal

Hi there thanks

Ok from your description ie: a small drip between the bell housing and engine then this indicates the rear crankshaft seal is leaking

Looking into your vehicles history I see it has had a new gearbox and tcm a few years back but the seal area wouldn't have been touched within this repair

There was no recalls issued in regards ***** ***** rear crankshaft seal leaking

In order to replace this seal the gearbox needs to be removed and the then the flywheel which is quite a big job

As the MPS6 powershift unit is a large unit and there is a lot of components to be removed before gearbox is removed

If you need further help or technical assistance on this issue going forward

please let me know and I will do my upmost to assist you

Kind regards ***** ***** and have a nice evening

Any positive feedback is kindly appreciated

Hi BrianSorry to be a pain but could you let me know when the gearbox was changed please, date etcMany thanks *****

Hi George

Ok the gearbox was replaced on the 25th of February 2014

The transmission control module was replaced on the 10th of April 2014

The rear crankshaft seal is located behind the flywheel so wouldn't have disturbed during the gearbox replacement
