Ranger 3.2 started in morning first time but after

Ranger 3.2 started in morning first time but after travelling 12 miles I stop engine and it won’t start again for about 20 minutes
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: the engine turns over fine but won’t kick in
JA: What year is your Ranger?
Customer: 68 plate
JA: Are you fixing your Ranger yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have not done anything to it as yet. I got a service done on it to see if that helped but didn’t
JA: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?

what is the mileage of the vehicle

Does the engine idle ok or does it fell lumpy and does it drive ok no missfire or hesitations etc

NJ68LYX. Mileage 28000. It runs fine no other issues. It seems when I stop engine after short run it doesn’t start again for about 10-20 minutes

Hi there thanks

ok the most common issues we see on the 3.2 variant is an injector fault

most commonly one of the injectors leaking off excessively when warm this causes a drop in fuel pressure and results in a crank no fire situation untill it cools down

other issues I have seen is one injector shorting out which in turns shuts all injectors down

looking at your details the vehicles 3 year 60,000 mile warranty doesn’t expire until 30/9/2021

so this should be booked into your nearest dealer for a diagnostic/tests on this issue

also there is a man outstanding brake hose recall that should be done also

so just book in for these two to be done at the same time again this is done under warranty
