I went to unlock my car this morning and it was fine, I then went back to my car this afternoon and went to unlock it but my fob isn’t working I have changed the battery on the key fob but it still isn’t working??

Customer: Yes
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: edge and 10
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes and I have changed the battery in my key

it works with the key blade, yes it is the 3 button remote fob and no I don’t have a spare

Hi there can you attempt to reprogram the remote fob as sometimes they can lose there coding (I will give you the instructions

If the central locking is working ok manually

then it’s most commonly an internal fob fault

the first test that should be done if the reprogramming fails is to check the signal from the remote fob

This is done using an RF receiver tester (most garages will have this equipment)

if there is no signal then the remote will need to be replaced

but I would attempt the reprogramming firstly following these instructions

1, put key in the ignition and turn the ignition from Position 0 to position 2 (ignition on ) 6-8 times (whitin 10-15 seconds)

You should hear a beep/chime this indicates teach mode is entered

after you hear the chime remove the key and press and hold any button - you should hear another chime

this indicates successful programming

this may take a few attempts to do if you haven’t carried it out before

ok if you aren’t getting a chime when you press abs hold the button this indicates that there is no signal being sent from the fob (most commonly an internal fob issue )

You should have the signal tested prior to replacement

I took the fob battery out of my partners key (ford van) and even his fob is not working either?

Can you double check the battery is fitted the correct way round

Positive to the bottom (the sign is on the fob body )

is the battery ok in the other vehicles fob (was this swapped from yours )

mine is now after reprogramming. The battery was a spare that we had so I will buy a new one tomorrow and try again.
