My late mother's maiden name was Frith. Her late

Hello, my late mother's maiden name was Frith. Her late half-sister said that Frith was a Huguenot name. The name Frith seems to have died out in Ireland which is intriguing. My mother had two sisters but no brothers. She had two half-sisters and two half-brothers.
I don't have children myself. I don't know how my aunt thought Frith was a Huguenot name. Also do some surnames just die out? Thanks.
