I have about a half acre of garden which is continuously

Customer Question

I have about a half acre of garden which is continuously infested by moles, damaging lawns and flower beds. I have tried most things on the market without success. If I clear them from one area they simply move on to another. It is not unusual to have twenty new molehills overnight. I am desperate! It can require an hour or two every day to clear up the mess and/or try a new technique. It seems that they must be killed somehow as they have no intention of being caught or moving on to pastures new.

Do you have a legal question about this? How can I help you with it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you for your reply Mr. Smith but why, oh why have I a reply from a Solicitor when I'm asking a question about moles INFESTING MY GARDEN? Little furry animals who make MOLEHILLS. As far as I am aware I am not being sued by them and I do not intend to sue them either. I assume the word "mole" in my question conjured up the spectre of a James Bond type scenario by the "Just Answer" software which assesses the question. Please pass on my question to a gardening/horticultural specialist. Thank you again for your reply, you must have been as puzzled as I was.

I was puzzled by this because I thought you were blaming someone else for the infestation. That is why I thought you had posted in the legal section.I will transfer it to a different section.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hello again, I didn't post it to the legal section. I just posted it without any reference and it immediately date and timed-stamped it and showed "Lawyers" beside it. It is now telling me that "F .E. Smith has referred you to a new solicitor"! The wonders of technology!

So sorry about the mole problem you are having as at least you are not in any legal issues with them at the present time!Research tonight on this problem offer many of the same conclusions. Using chemicals sold today on the market will often not do the trick as these are tough critters and they will return. Mole tunnels are too extensive and the chemicals cannot reach the moles. Some recommended ways in which to rid your garden of these pests.1. Experts say that trapping is the most effective method of mole control. In trapping, you do not have to be in your garden all day looking for the pests. There are three main different types of traps (harpoon, choker and scissor), which work slightly different. Here is a link to each to help you decide if you wish to invest in one of these traps: not comfortable with trapping these animals as possible killing them or hurting yourself, best to contact a local exterminator to see what they will recommend in terms of traps.2. Moles are looking for food sources. Clearing your garden of anything that moles like to digest can help.3. Look at purchasing dense soil as well as stones to place in yard as moles have a difficult time getting around these features.4. Burying metal mesh hardware cloth 2 feet vertically below ground with another 6 inches showing above ground.5. Repellents such as castor oil has been suggested by many. Prepare a mixture of 2 tablespoons of dish soap with a cup of castor oil in a gallon of water. Apply every month and after rains as a preventive measure.
