What info do you need?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Background is I bought the saw from someone using it in their garage at home. It was wired into a spur. I never paid much attention to that when I disconnected it. I put a plug in it yesterday and it worked for a split second then stopped. I checked and the saw is 12amp.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I thought a spur is usually 13amp?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thanks George. My name is***** any help you can give.

Yes but the start amps on a motor goes far beyond the 13 amps! And being an old saw that is ever worse !

Did it trip the breaker?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I read that afterwards! It spikes on start up. It didn’t trip the breaker as I checked it afterwards. Only fused the plug I think.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It’s about 5 or 6 years old. Here’s a picture of it.

Is it a 1/2 hp motor ?

That is pretty big to be on a 13 amp spur

I wouldn't think the motor is bad but you never know! You would have to open the motor and ohm out the windings to see for sure?

Hope I was helpful!

Please give me a positive rating!

Thanks

I’m not sure if the hp. Can I wire it directly into 20 or 30 amp spur?

I would use the 20 amp!

If it's bad it will trip the 20 amp breaker!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok I’ll try the 20amp first. Thanks for your help.

Hope I was helpful!
