Hi I’m Tom and I’m here to assist you with your issue today. Before I get you a fully researched answer, I have to ask you a couple preliminary questions. These motors are known for the timing chain guides to fail and cause a timing chain rattle was this checked?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

No.we did not dismantle at all, but tried to diagnose with stethascope

only. Quite sure it is not valve gear related.

If chain guides are responsible are they replaceable by access through

removed valve cover ?

Yes. It you need to dismantle the entir top end and side covers as well as the crank pulley . It's the same procedure for replacing the timing chain so you might as well replace the timing chain at this time as well. These are the next steps.Remember that I'm here if you need any further assistance just let me know it will be for no further charge. Hoped this helped. Please rate excellent service so I can get Credit for my help thanks. Bonuses greatly appreciated.
