My 5 year old Honda Jazz battery was flat I needed the car

Customer Question

My 5 year old Honda Jazz battery was flat I needed the car so attached an "intelligent" battery charger to the terminals and the car started fine. The battery went flat again and I repeated the process but bthis time I seem to have damaged the ICU. Any suggestions appreciated.
JA: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged?
Customer: When I attempt to turn on the headlights the binacle lights flicker fast and something is wrong.
JA: What is the model/year of your Honda?
Customer: 2015 April. Car has been perfect 'till now.
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No. I phoned my Honda dealer for advice who said that I would have to get car to them. Insurance has Green Flag recovery but NOT from my home address!
JA: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Nothing that I can think off

It sounds like the battery has a dead short. Even with a battery charger connected the battery will be taking all the current through the short.

I would suggest testing the battery and replacing if necessary.
