what is my current immigration status.
June 2013 I entered the uk on a 6 months vista visa to see my wife and to attend the funeral of our son.
My wife has mental illness, she needs care,
on December 2013 i submitted further application to leave to remain its been over 7 months and the home office is still processing the application. are they meant take this long
Your visit visa is treated as continuing until your application for further leave to remain is decided, assuming that you applied in December 2013 whilst your visa was still valid and had not expired.
Hope this helps

how does it usually take the home office to process application.

ive been waiting over 7 months now, what can i do about it.

Your application is not straightforward, it usually takes 6 months at most and can take up to 12 months or longer in some cases.
You may follow up to see what the status is of your application.
