I am a South African citizen and would like to know if I may

Customer Question

I am a South African citizen and would like to know if I may be eligible for British Nationality through 'double descent'? Both my parents were born in India in the mid 1920's whilst their British born fathers (my paternal and maternal grandfathers) were stationed in India on Crown Service (Military).

Hello Thank you for your enquiry. The Home Office has a discretion to register a person as a British citizen. Acquisition by registration as an adult is available. In some cases registration is possible where there is sufficiently strong link with the UK looking back generations. You may be eligible but it is difficult to say without carrying out a full assessment. Unfortunately on JA I can not carry out a full assessment. You would need to seek legal advice.
