What is the statute of limitations for assault in the Republic of Ireland

1. Dear *****, the Statute of limitations only applies to civil actions. For a civil action for assault, it is six years. However, there is no Statute of Limitation on criminal proceedings. So, whilst the victim must sue you within six years of the date of the assault, the Gardai can prosecute you at any time for assault.
