I am one of those affected by the 12 months-no-absence

Customer Question

I am one of those affected by the 12 months-no-absence ruling on naturalisation in the State. I saw the Minister intended to introduce new legislation allowing a 6-week absence, but I cannot see what has hjappened to that. Has the legislation passed? Who can I ask?
JA: What state are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: Ireland
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: Dont understand. Online it said Minister wanted to bring in legislation. Has the law recently been changed to allow 6-week absence?
JA: Anything else you want the Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: that is it: how far has the new legislation got?

The legislation has not passed yet. That said, most people are making their applications regardless as it is due to be changed!

You might please also note that the Supreme Court has overturned the decision and you can now apply as usual.
