I have a 1964 3.8 s type jaguar 3speed auto, is it possible to change the gearbox to a 4 speed auto?

its entirely feasible to fit a later gearbox as the XK engine was used right up to the early 80's in the saloons and the early XJS and they used a 4 speed auto

it would be best to source a donor car with the right parts so you have everything you need to hand and can pick the pieces off as required

you'll need the gearbox, bellhousing and flex plate
the gearbox mount won't match up so you can you use the later mount but make up a new crossmember from box section

speedo drive and propshaft will also need making up using a combination of new and old parts
