Customer Question

Hi. I have a diesel Kia Carens 2006. All was running fine until this week when I have had repeated problems with the car cutting out at low revs and not starting again. Engine cranks but will not start then usually starts after ten minutes or so. We have changed the battery but still does it. I have a spare key. I have a long way to drive for work and daren't use it until it is sorted as it is dangerous. Car has been serviced and looked after and was driving very well up until this point. Presume it is an immobiliser problem but any advice about getting it fixed would be great.
Many thanks,

Hi .
Is the check engine light ON when the engine is running .
What i suggest you do is when you leave the car with the shop so they can test the crankshaft sensor as this is a typical issue for your car stalling and with hard starts .this problem will not trip the check engine light IN some cases , but the shop will need the car to test the crank sensor when you have a no start period ..
If you have over 100.000 miles i would just replace this sensor anyway as these are known to cause problem after this mileage ,and some even a lot earlier ..
