How much will it cost to change the ECU for a Kia Ceed 2012?

Customer Question

How much will it cost to change the ECU for a Kia Ceed 2012?
JA: The Expert's answer will cost $10 to $100, depending on the issue type and time to respond. You'll see the exact amount on the next page and can decide then. It's way less expensive and more convenient than any face-to-face visit.
Customer: Okay
JA: What is the model of your '12 Kia?
Customer: ceed
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: have tried but can’t fix it
JA: Is there anything else the Mechanic should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: the car won’t start, just turning over and was told the ecu need to be changed and reprogrammed
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: yes, the battery was recently flat, but hat was when the problem started., the immobiliser light came on. I have changed the battery hoping it will solve the problem but no luck.

Hi Gavin, just left Kia garage now and the report they gave me for the car says smart unit faulty. Is it the same as ecu? Or how do you go about fixing that? Thanks
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 9 days ago.

I get that you would have to ask them for example Mercedes call the ECU a SAM unit BMW call it a PCM unit ECT ECT the ECU now has about 20 different names.

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
Yeah, I did ask if it’s different from the ecu, they said it’s different. That it’s under the dashboard. They showed me the location of it under the dashboard.
