I can't find:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Any Weblock 1.0.0 - also looked for AnyUtils
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\program name - I assume you mean Any Weblock or AnyUtils here
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\eg ui - nothing of that name under \run
is what came up
I'm afraid it hasn't made any difference
Have searched with revo in programs and logs by all search criteria, searching for weblock, we block, anyutils and any utils and there is no sign of the program on my computer
Still can't access the sites. However - I have noticed one difference now:
Before, I used to get a message saying:
server not found - firefox can't find the server at xyz.
Now I am just getting a blank screen.
I usually use Firefox - should I still do this through IE?
Still not working
Yes - "Webpage cannot be found"
I'd guess at about 3 years ago
Here's what I got:
Pinging yahoo.com [22.214.171.124] with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 126.96.36.199: bytes=32 time=196ms TTL=43Reply from 188.8.131.52: bytes=32 time=196ms TTL=43Reply from 184.108.40.206: bytes=32 time=193ms TTL=43Reply from 220.127.116.11: bytes=32 time=196ms TTL=43Ping statistics for 18.104.22.168: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 193ms, Maximum = 196ms, Average = 195ms
Sorry - I may not have been clear about this - I didn't block ALL websites - only a few time wasting ones which I selected myself, such as facebook, wikipedia, bbc etc. I have full access to other sites.
I'll try your next step just now
Same as before
chkdsk /f - is f the drive name?
Did both steps, but no change.
After the first stage I got this message:
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.Beginning verification phase of system scan.Verification 100% complete.Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For exampleC:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.logThe system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot.C:\Windows\system32>
Do you need to see these logs?
I apparently don't have permission to access the file or upload it
Okay. Thanks for your help - I do appreciate it very much.
Please do not be offended by this, but since there is an option to get a second opinion through JustAnswer, I am going to take it.
I know through my own experience that sometimes other people can have a bright idea that others do not see, no matter how thorough they have been.
Yes - if you think you can help then please start the session
Thank you. That was amazingly good service!!! I'll rate you in a couple of moments.
