Hi,My name is XXXXX XXXXX I'm here to help you with this issue.
That error is definitely a sign of a bad hard drive and it will need to be replaced immediately.
Since the laptop is new, you should have a 1 year manufacturer warranty that will cover that hard drive error and they should be able to replace it for you.
Anything other than that will cost you money and I would not recommend that you do anything yourself, just contact the place where you bought it and send it in to get the hard drive replaced.
Of course, would you like the number to contact Lenovo?
I have their warranty book with numbers.
Ok great. This has happened to me at my place of business and Lenovo is always great about replacing those parts
Should I go directly to them first?
I would if I were you.
it's possible if you take it back to where you bought it from they may replace it
but I doubt it...
Do you have the UK number? The booklet I have has a US number
Let me find that UK number for you
Will Lenovo replace the hard drive?
Warranty and repair service number08705-500-900
Yes, they will replace the hard drive. It's covered in the 1 year warranty.
It's the first problem I've had with a Lenovo
I see... well, the hard drive is problem made by a company called Seagate or Western Digital or another hard drive manufacturer
probably made by*** sorry
All my data is backed up
Can I save my Outlook email settings?
So I don't have to reinstall the signatures :)
Sure, if you open your My computer and go to the following directory, you'll find the files for your signature:C:\Users\[your user ID]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures
or you can just copy and paste it once you get it all re-installed
whichever is easier
I didn't understand your last comment re copy and paste?
All of the emails that you have sent have had your signature on them, so when setup your email, you can look to your past email to copy and paste your signature so that you don't have to re-type it again.
OK. Yes, I've done that before.
Wonderful, I'm glad that I made that somewhat clear :-)
Will i have to set up everything again from scratch? Remove all those Win 8 apps etc
It depends how Lenovo wants to handle it:1. If they just send you a hard drive, you'll have to re-install Windows 8 from scratch2. If they ask you to send in the entire laptop, then they'll take care of it and it'll be like how it was when you bought the laptop.
Is it easy to install a hard drive in a laptop?
It is very email, you'll most likely need a screw driver and Lenevo will provide instructions. If you don't feel comfortable, have them send a technician to you or ask them to let you ship it in so they can do it for you.
Or if you can, take it back to the store and return it and get a new one because that one doesn't work
you have options, just depends what you want to do.
I bought it on 26 June
less than 30 days... maybe you can call the customer service number from the place where you bought it.
if they don't want to help
then defer to Lenovo
Are you still with me?
Sorry, got distracted
No worries, just checking with you
Is there anything else I should do to prepare for the hard drive replacement?
If you have backed up all of your data, then you should be good to go.
One further question
My documents are all on dropbox. I'd rather than restore them from the cloud as it takes days.
I have a TB hard drive. Is the Windows backup program OK?
Or should I just try to copy, paste to the TB drive?
If it's only documents, Copy and Paste will be much easier to handle.
Do you have any further questions?
