Please note, click on Reply to Expert to reply to me, a rating is only needed when we are finished.

This can be caused by the windows Store Cache, so I want to start with this please.

Go to Windows Modern UI screen (the Start Screen)

Start typing and type in WSReset.exe

Click on Run as administrator at the bottom

Windows Store will open and you’ll get a conformation message saying that: The cache for the Store was cleared. You can now browse the Store for apps.

Once done, now try to access the App Store.

Let me know the results please

did as above but apps store still will not open. did not get reply to say cache for the store was cleared

ok, press the windows key + X and click on Control Panel.

In the top right, type in

update and click on update when it appears.

Then do a check and install all updates.

Once done, restart and tell me if you can now access the App Store please.

still the same as when we started. Have to go out to hospital till after 5pm. Is that ok.

we weren't able to connect to the store this might have happened because of a server problem or the network connection might have timed out please wait a few minutes and try again. This happens every time I try to gain access

ok, you say it has not worked for 3 years John, but windows 8 is not that old.

I think I got this computer 2years past Christmas.


Open Internet Explorer on the desktop.

Click on Tools icon option on the top right corner.

Select Internet Options from the list.

Click on Connection tab.

Click on LAN Settings.

Uncheck the box which says “Use a Proxy Server for your LAN”. Check the box which states “Automatically detect settings” option.

Click on OK.

Restart the computer and then try the store.

tried to open internet explorer says this page cannot be displayed. Can you not take control of my computer and fix it

Can you please go to

Click on Download in the top right.

Go down to "TeamViewer Quicksupport"

Click on Download and download and run the program.

It will give you an ID and a Password.

Please give me the ID (leave a space between each character eg: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9) and the password XXXXX your next message to me here.

Do not close the program, but leave it open.

I can then connect to your computer.

Richard whats happening

Like I said, I was waiting for your message so I can tell you the instructions..

What you need to do is turn off the computer.

Turn it on and let it load to the sign in window but do not sign in.

Instead, hold the SHIFT button down and with it held down, click on the power icon and click Restart (still with Shift held down).

Keep it held down until the computer has restarted and you are brought to a menu.

Click on Troubleshoot, then click on Reset my PC

As we discussed this will reinstall windows.

then when you are setting up windows again (it leads you through this during the reinstall) make sure to use your email account as your sign in, not the local account.

Once the setup has completed, you should then be able to access the store.
